Campylo-TESSy - Campylobacteriosis over Christmas and New Year in European countries

In Switzerland, campylobacteriosis cases reported to the National Notification System for Infectious Diseases (NNSID) peak over the summer months and during the festive season in winter. The peak during winter has hardly been described except for Switzerland while the summer peak is described in most European countries. A recent publication from Germany mentioned a similar observation with high case numbers in the first weeks of January. This project aims to investigate notification data of selected European countries to explore if similar peaks exist in other countries apart from Switzerland and Germany. For this purpose, surveillance data of 14 countries reporting to The European Surveillance System (TESSy) have been analysed for the winter seasons 2006/07-2013/14.
