HMA - Longitudinal, Integrative Analysis of Bioactive, Micro- and Macro-nutrient Composition of Human Milk in a Low Income Country
Project Abstract
Multiple human milk components contribute to the maternal and child health benefits associated with breastfeeding. Clarifying the complex interplay of multiple human milk components is critical for our understanding between human milk and health outcomes. I will assess the impact of human milk on child gut microbiota and growth through an integrative analysis of bioactive, micro- and macro-nutrient factors. My career is at a critical juncture, and support from the Trainee Bridge Fund would enable me to conduct research on human milk composition, putting me in a strong position for future funding and building my own research group.
