BRANCH - Nutritional management of growth faltering in infants aged under six months in Asia and Africa. Study protocol for an individually randomised trial (‘BRANCH’)

The WHO Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing (WHO/MCA) will coordinate a multi-country, multi-centre randomised controlled trial to evaluate the effect of approaches to prevent and manage growth faltering in the first six months of life on wasting-free survival at six months of age and on other important secondary outcomes. The trial will be conducted in populations in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with a high burden of underweight, wasting, low birth weight and preterm birth in infants aged 0-6 months.

The role of Swiss TPH is to monitor the study in the 7 selected countries.
