ESARO Adolescent and Youth Research Agenda: Understanding, priorities, needs and promising practices

Swiss TPH is conducting a series of desk based reviews, mapping and case studies that build on and compliment studies conducted previously for UNFPA including for the Safeguarding Young People (SYP) programme and other international organisations and UN agencies. Each study has a specific methodology uniquely designed to  build on existing research, update previous mappings or analysis to avoid duplication of efforts, while updating and expanding current knowledge. The research studies will provide evidence based, robust documentation, as possible from both quantitative and qualitative sources depending on the focus of the study. Specifically, Swiss TPH is conducting the following studies on behalf of UNFPA ESARO:

1.     An updated Youth Status Report on the health and demographic situation of young people in the East and Southern Africa region, and in each of the ESA countries

2.     An Investment Case on Mental Health and its interlinkages to adolescent and youth SRHR

3.     Mapping Economic Empowerment interventions with the aim of creating new partnerships for UNFPA to integrate adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health information and messages to reach a broader youth audience in the region

4.     A Secondary Analysis of SYP Programme and Evaluation Data

Results of some of these studies will be published as peer review articles with UNFPA
