LUDOK - Air Pollution and Health Literature Database and Services 2024-2025

LUDOK is a Swiss competence center for the effects of outdoor air pollution on human health at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH). The documentation center has been financed by the FOEN since 1985. The documentation and processing of scientific studies by a small team of scientists at the interface of science, policy, enforcement authorities and the public promotes understanding of the interrelationships between air and health for effective air pollution control, both nationally and internationally.

As a result of the increasing knowledge of the effects on health, measures for air pollution control could be justified and taken, and air limit values for Switzerland and internationally could be developed within the framework of the WHO air quality guidelines. This has made it possible to continuously improve air quality in Switzerland and reduce mortality and the associated costs.

LUDOK will continue its activities in a two-year extension of a WTO agreement.
