Monitoring patient satisfaction with SRHR services in Malawi

The "Malawi German Health Programme IV" (MGHP) is being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) from August 2024 to July 2027 to help the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) strengthen the Malawi health system by focusing on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) in the district health administrations of Mchinji, Lilongwe, Dedza and Ntcheu. The project targets rural women, young people, pregnant women and adolescents with and without abilities with the aim to improve the provision of high-quality SRHR services.

A way to better achieve gender-sensitive and youth-friendly SRHR services is to measure patients’ satisfaction so that the survey findings help ensure a better alignment between patient’s needs and expectations and SRHR services. Understanding factors that inhibit or promote patient satisfaction will aid SRHR services not only to identify their strengths and limitations but also to identifiy how to adequately channel the efforts in improving service delivery. Measurement of patients’ care experiences is therefore crucial for achieving high-quality health services.

GIZ has launched a request for proposal (RFP) focusing on monitoring patient satisfaction with SRHR services in four district health administration in Malawi in this perspective.
