Emilie Pothin, PhD

Dr Emilie Pothin, leads the Analytics and Intervention Modeling group at Swiss TPH. With expertise in mathematical modeling and epidemiology of malaria, her research integrates mathematical and statistical methods to simulate transmission dynamics, estimate impact of malaria interventions, and leverage these insights to enhance malaria control and elimination efforts. Through her affiliation with the Clinton Health Access Initiative, she support national malaria programs by simulating the impact of interventions at the sub-national level and generating evidence for strategic planning of both established and novel malaria control strategies. Additionally, her work focuses on strengthening modelling capacity in endemic countries, benefiting both upcoming modelers and model users including policy-makers. Since 2017, Dr Emilie Pothin has been supporting the National Malaria Program of Tanzania for their strategic planning. Currently, her group supports the national programs of Tanzania, Mozambique, Benin, Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana and Cameroon.

Dr. Emilie Pothin holds a PhD in Malaria Modeling from Imperial College London, a Master's Degree in Engineering with a specialization in Mathematical Modeling from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées of Toulouse, France, and an MSc in Biometry from the University of Reading, UK. She has five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with Eli Lilly and GlaxoSmithKline. Additionally, she also conducted field studies in Madagascar and Tanzania.
