The Diploma of Advanced Studies in “Health Care and Management: From Research to Implementation” (DAS HCM) course provides international participants with the core competencies for understanding and reacting to health challenges at a world-leading institute in global and public health. Participants acquire a range of skills and knowledge needed to work as a public health professional in resource-constrained settings. Course Structure
The DAS HCM can either be completed in 14 weeks on a full-time basis or in a modular way over 2-3 years. If you wish to study the DAS HCM course part-time, you must complete the Certificate of Advanced Studies in “Health Research and Interventions” (CAS HRI), which can be further subdivided into Module A: Concepts and Research Methods and Module B: Health Challenges and Responses, as well as the Certificate of Advanced Studies in “Health Systems and Management” (CAS HSM) and the final oral exam.
The DAS HCM also serves as the core course for those who wish to pursue a Master of Advanced Studies International Health (MAS IH).

Who Should Apply for this Programme?
The DAS in Health Care and Management is designed for health professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge of international public health and management. The programme is also well suited for career starters and career changers who aim to acquire the knowledge, skills and competences needed to work and lead in health management teams, particularly in low-income societies. The course is open to participants from a range of backgrounds and countries. Participants are typically health professionals (doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, veterinarians). However, participants from other disciplines (e.g. business or social sciences) also contribute to the diversity of the course.
Application Process and Entry Requirements
To enrol on the DAS in Health Care and Management, candidates must have a first professional qualification, at least two years' work experience and demonstrate an adequate level of English (TOEFL paper 550/TOEFL computer 213/TOEFL internet 79 - 80/IELTS 6.0 or native speaker or university degree in English with written proof).
To apply, you must complete the online application form on our website and submit the required documents. Applications for all courses are normally accepted on a rolling basis. Except for scholarship applications, which will be considered after the application deadline.
Costs and Scholarships
The total course fee for the DAS HCM is CHF 8,800 (payable 6 weeks before the start of the course). If you take the DAS HCM over more than one year, the course fee will be made up of the cost of each module, resulting in CHF 9,300 or CHF 9,800.
This includes a non-refundable registration fee of CHF 500, paybale at the time of acceptance. Cancellation of participation less than 4 weeks prior to the start of the course will result in an additional fee of CHF 1,000 (DAS HCM). The course fee does not include insurance or other personal living expenses during the stay.
Scholarships
A very limited number of scholarships are reserved exclusively for participants from resource-constrained countries who are working in, or wish to work in, primary health care, public health or district-level health services.
We offer two types of scholarships. Full scholarships cover course fees, travel, health insurance, accommodation and living costs in Switzerland. In addition, we offer some partial scholarships to help cover living costs in Switzerland. Partial scholarships cover travel, health insurance, accommodation and living costs in Switzerland. Please note that partial scholarships do not include the course fee, which students are responsible for paying themselves. Partial scholarships will only be paid once the full course fee has been received.
