Medical Services is a centre of excellence for travel and tropical medicine. Through the Centre for Tropical and Travel Medicine, it offers pre-travel advice and post-travel treatment to travellers from Basel and the surrounding region. It is the largest centre of expertise for tropical and travel medicine in Switzerland and advises around 15,000 clients from Northwestern Switzerland every year.

As the National Reference Centre for Diagnostics and Therapy of Human Parasitoses, it offers a wide range of services to doctors and hospitals throughout Switzerland and, on behalf of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), provides reference diagnosis for malaria and confirmatory diagnosis for other non-endemic parasitic diseases as part of the surveillance concept for notifiable infectious diseases.
