The backbone of a functioning health system is the people who work every day for our health and well-being, including nurses and doctors, policy makers, financial experts and community health workers. There is a severe shortage of health workers in many places, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The insufficient number of well-trained health staff impairs the quality of care.

Swiss TPH trains scientists and professionals who are at the forefront of improving healthcare, contributing to infectious disease research and applying their knowledge and practical skills to societies in which they will have the greatest impact. Our education and training programmes provide knowledge and practical skills that prepare graduates to work in global health, thus also counteracting the shortage of health workers.
