Health Systems and Management (CAS HSM)
Overview
The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Health Systems and Management (CAS HSM) provides international participants with the competencies to strategically plan and implement sustainable improvements in health systems, addressing inequities and taking into account social, legal and ethical responsibilities. Participants also acquire the ability to communicate, collaborate and lead in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment and to critically reflect on the role, decision-making process and impact of global health actors.
With a focus on practical application and interactive training, participants of the CAS HSM benefit from engaging with experts from various fields and with the international and diverse student body participating in the full-time Diploma of Advanced Studies in Health Care and Management: From Research to Implementation (DAS HCM) course.
Course Structure
The CAS in Health Systems and Managment lasts 5 weeks on a full-time basis. After successful completion, you can easily progress to the DAS Health Care and Management: From Research to Implementation by taking the CAS in Health Research and Interventions (CAS HRI) and an oral exam.
Who Should Apply for this Course?
The course is open to participants from a variety of backgrounds and countries. Most participants are trained health professionals (doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, etc.), but participants from other disciplines (e.g. business or social sciences) also contribute to the diversity of the class.
Application Process and Entry Requirements
Candidates should apply via the online application form with the required documents. To enrol on the course, participants must have a first professional qualification (e.g. Bachelor's degree), at least 2 years' work experience and an adequate level of English (TOEFL Paper 550/ TOEFL Computer 213/ TOEFL Internet 79 - 80/ IELTS 6.0 or native speaker or university degree in English).
Costs and Scholarships
Total course fee: CHF 3,800
This sum includes a non-refundable registration fee of CHF 200 due at the moment of acceptance. Cancellation of participation less than 4 weeks before the beginning of the course will result in an additional fee of CHF 500. The course fee does not include insurance or other personal living costs during the stay.
Scholarships
A very limited number of partial scholarships that help covering living costs in Switzerland are available for the CAS Health Systems and Management. They are reserved exclusively for participants from resource-constrained countries who are working in, or wish to work in, primary health care, public health or district-level health services.
Partial scholarships cover travel, health insurance, accommodation and living costs in Switzerland. Please note that partial scholarships do not include the course fee, which students are responsible for paying themselves. Partial scholarships will only be paid once the full course fee has been received.
